Lure of the Hypnogourd

Lure of the Hypnogourd

I had to arrange for cable after I moved. I use cable internet, of course, and I had signed up for cable TV. Digital cable, even, because I already had the box. I’ve had the service for a while now and I have come to what is, for me, a surprising conclusion: I don’t watch a lot of television.

There are shows I’m disappointed to miss, of course, but I don’t tend to watch those at home. When I’m here, if the television is on, it’s usually providing background noise while I’m on the computer. Really, I have music and the radio for that. I’m trying to figure out why I got the TV hooked up in the first place.

I think it was just sort of expected. I don’t think I know anyone who doesn’t have cable anymore. Television is such a part of our lives, it didn’t really seem to be something with any doubt to it.

Without watching it, however, I’m giving a company money for a wasted service. I think instead, I’ll call and cancel. I’m not dissatisfied with it; I’ve just come to accept that I’m a gamer, and I just don’t watch TV anymore.
