Soothe the Savage Beast

Soothe the Savage Beast

I like listening to music that suits my mood. Angry? Toss on Godsmack’s Whatever. Sad? Counting Crow’s Round Here. Happy? Susan Aglukark’s Hina Na Ho. I try to mix it up if I’m not in any particular mood, or use the music as a springboard to change one I don’t want to be in anymore.

So, I started to wonder. Does the music just reflect my mood, or prolong it?

After all, if music can change my mood, doesn’t it make sense that it could also extend it? If it does, is that a problem?

I’m not really certain. After all, a good mood that can be talked into staying a while is a good thing. A bad one, however? Well, I’d like to just show it the door.

But most of my favourite music, is sad, sombre, or at the very least, melancholy. I’d hate to have to give up something I love for the sake of preventing a mood in the same vein.
