Viewing: O Brother, Where Art Thou?

O Brother, Where Art Thou?

Suave and fancy-talking Everett Ulysses McGill, dim-witted Delmar, and easily-excitable Pete are serving time together on a prison chain gang. Everett knows where $1.2 million is hidden that’s theirs for the taking, and the three manage to escape; however, a stranger soon warns them that they’ll find treasure, but not the sort they’re looking for. As Everett and his partners hit the road, they happen upon a gluttonous bible salesman, Big Dan Teague; meet up with Baby Face Nelson as he robs a bank; encounter three Sirens doing their washing; run into Everett’s estranged wife Penny, who has told everyone her husband was killed in a train wreck; find themselves in the middle of a heated campaign between political boss Pappy O’Daniel, and reformist candidate Homer Stokes; and even find time to make a hit record as The Soggy Bottom Boys.

Quote from Breaking Benjamin

“Why give up, why give in?
It’s not enough, it never is.
So I will go on until the end.
 We’ve become desolate.
It’s not enough, it never is.
But I will go on until the end.”

Learning: Thunder and Lightning: Cracking Open the Writer’s Craft by Natalie Goldberg

Thunder and Lightning: Cracking Open the Writer’s Craft
by Natalie Goldberg

Fans of Goldberg’s popular books on writing, Writing Down the Bones (1986) and Wild Mind (1990), will find much of interest in her latest effort. Full of suggestions about the writing life and the wide variety of techniques and strategies that can be brought to bear on the writing process, this book shows once again Goldberg’s commitment to “writing practice” and to the value of tracing the diverse ways she and others discover and develop subject matter.

Wireless Edmonton

I’m in the downtown library. I was going to connect to their wireless network, but from where I’m sitting it’s apparently better to connect to one called “Wireless Edmonton”.

From the City of Edmonton Web site:

Find the freedom of going wireless in the City of Edmonton’s eZones.

Public wireless Internet connection points bring the City and the world to your laptop or mobile device.

eZones are provided by the City of Edmonton as part of a public wireless Internet pilot project. We’re checking out potential eZone locations across the City in the places you want to be – City of Edmonton leisure facilities, parks and festivals – keep an eye out for more eZones in the future.

Quote from David Markson

“Obviously Writer exists.
Not being a character but the author, here.
Writer is writing, for heaven’s sake.”
