Quote from Richard Bachman (Stephen King)

“He was not alone. The dark figure was back, up ahead, not far, beckoning. He knew that figure. If he could get a little closer, he could make out the features. Which one hadn’t he walked down?”
The Long Walk

Quote from Richard Belzer

“If I have accomplished what I set out to do in the first part of this book, you have been transformed from a cheerful, trusting soul with unflagging faith in the powers that be into a suspicious, angry skeptic and cynic who can’t sit through a thirty-second news teaser without muttering and gesturing and foaming at the mouth.”

Soothe the Savage Beast

I like listening to music that suits my mood. Angry? Toss on Godsmack’s Whatever. Sad? Counting Crow’s Round Here. Happy? Susan Aglukark’s Hina Na Ho. I try to mix it up if I’m not in any particular mood, or use the music as a springboard to change one I don’t want to be in anymore.

So, I started to wonder. Does the music just reflect my mood, or prolong it?

After all, if music can change my mood, doesn’t it make sense that it could also extend it? If it does, is that a problem?

I’m not really certain. After all, a good mood that can be talked into staying a while is a good thing. A bad one, however? Well, I’d like to just show it the door.

But most of my favourite music, is sad, sombre, or at the very least, melancholy. I’d hate to have to give up something I love for the sake of preventing a mood in the same vein.

Quote from Cicero

“In this case in order to make the subject plainer we have given an example containing an obvious and monstrous fallacy. But often a fallacy stated obscurely is accepted as truth, either when you do not exactly recall what you have granted or you have granted something as certain which is really doubtful.”
On Invention

Quote from Peter Benchley

“He could not move fast enough. He watched in helpless terror as Quint, reaching toward him with grasping fingers, eyes wide and pleading, was pulled slowly down into the dark water.”
